Chris, are you just recording screen or any weird hardware for the screen part? Have you tried using OBS? In my experience OBS works well for recording. Just don’t configure any streaming features and set up the recording and it works fairly well for recording. Otherwise make sure all drivers are up to date and all updates installed. What programs have you had issues with? Are they old versions or programs that aren’t developed anymore?

Not sure if you tried it or not but update all drivers from the manufacturers don't just let Windows update them I have seen a lot of problems when Windows tries to use their own generic drivers.

Assuming you have an NVIDIA graphics card and either an Intel or an AMD Processor, it should record just fine. It does sound like it's an issue with it saving your video file which is weird.. it could possibly be a conflict with a program running in the background.
You could have a chip flaw in a video card or the motherboard… likewise it could also be a memory chip flaw.. if you have itermittent problems like that one of the memory chips isn't functioning correctly a small percentage of the time… it could on any of those hardware items, you can run benchmark software to try to isolate where the flaw is, the other possibility is hardware drivers not being completely compatible with your hardware, windows doesn't usually find the best ones on its own, getting the correct ones from your hardware manufacturers resolves intermittent issues often… if you have any other symptoms of your computer doing something else odd, that will help determine where the problem is, if it's just during video making, it's probably either motherboard video chips interfering with a video card, only one should be in control…getting the correct drivers for your video chips may help… if you're having problems in other software or your computer freezes at random times, that's usually a ram chip flaw.
